What we don’t collect

• The check and Ask Bellwick never ask for your name, email or phone number.
• We never call, text or email you.
• We don’t sell your personal information.

The check

Each check is saved anonymously from the moment you enter a ZIP. It stores:

• The trade you picked and your ZIP (and the town it belongs to)
• Your answers and how far you got, including checks you leave part-way
• The most likely cause we showed you, and whether a local company was available
• Whether you tapped the call button

The check’s random id goes in the page address, so a refresh brings your answers back. Anyone you share that link with can see the check too.

Ask Bellwick (the chat)

What you type is sent to an AI model, through Vercel’s AI Gateway, to write the replies. Before a message is sent or saved, we remove email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses and names given as “my name is…”. That cleanup works on patterns and can miss things, so please leave personal details out.

Each chat is saved anonymously. It stores:

• The conversation, after the cleanup described above
• The trade, the likely causes and any safety notices we showed
• The result card, and how the chat ended
• If you enter a ZIP on the result card: the ZIP, its town, and whether you tapped the call button

Like the check, the chat’s random id goes in the page address.

When you call

The call button dials a number run by a call-routing partner, which connects you with an independent local company. Your phone number and the call, which may be recorded, are handled by that partner and the company under their own privacy policies. We may receive details about the call, such as when it happened, how long it lasted and the number it came from, so we can be paid our referral fee. How Bellwick works explains the rest.

Analytics, cookies and hosting

• Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager. It uses cookies to count visits and see which pages and steps people use. We send it events such as a finished check or chat, with the trade and the likely cause, never what you typed. See how Google uses this data.
• Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. They count page views and measure page speed without cookies.
• Hosting. Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for a limited time. The chat also uses your IP address briefly, in memory, to stop abuse. We never store it.

If we add advertising tags, such as Meta’s, we’ll update this page first.

How long we keep it

Check and chat records are anonymous and have no set deletion date. We delete one when you ask.

Your choices

• Block or clear cookies in your browser settings.
• Turn off Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
• To see or delete a check or chat, email us its link (the page address with ?check= or ?c=). The records are anonymous, so the link is how we find yours.
• Depending on your state, you may have other privacy rights. Email us and we’ll help. We won’t treat you differently for asking.

Children

Bellwick is for homeowners and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact
